IndiCam® 100

Intelligent measuring system revolutionizes thermoplastic production

The innovation behind the IndiCam® 100 system developed by betacontrol consists in its capacity to measure materials surfaces completely and precisely even during high-speed production processes with extremely short measurement and response times. The built-in infrared camera traverses the material 50 times per second and evaluates tens of thousands of pixels with a 100K-pixel camera. The data readings generate temperature curves that permit analysts to draw conclusions regarding weight per unit area on the basis of comparison with predetermined target values. Because thin materials cool more rapidly than thick ones, a correlation can be established between material thickness and temperature.

The high temperature resolution of the camera (0.1° C) enables the system to register minimal temperature fluctuations. Thus the measuring system is ideally suited to applications in which materials of different temperatures are processed, such as laminates produced by co-extrusion or in multi-layer processes.
